My Story

I'm Jane Valentine, the founder and maker behind The Clan Cushion Company.

I launched The Clan Cushion Company in 2011, after a long and successful management career within the Scottish textiles industry, establishing an interiors business and gaining an MBA along the way. As a proud Scot, and graduate of the Scottish College of Textiles, The Clan Cushion Company allows me to merge a love of my heritage with my professional experience and knowledge of our nation's rich textile traditions. I now create a carefully curated range of tartan products (including the hugely popular signature Scottie dogs), all handmade by me in my East Lothian workshop using authentic, high-quality Scottish wool.

For me, working with tartan is about more than just fabric. It’s about heritage, sustainability, and creating items that carry meaning. Every cushion, scarf, and accessory is handmade with care, using natural wool that is eco-friendly, renewable, and truly built to last.

I believe that the details matter, from the authenticity of the materials I use to the way I connect with my customers and stockists.
