FAQ
The questions we're asked most often. If yours isn't here, email info@theclancushioncompany.com and we'll be glad to help.
Ordering & delivery
How much is postage?
Postage is free across the UK mainland, with no minimum spend. A small surcharge applies to the Scottish Highlands and Islands, worked out at checkout.
How quickly will my order arrive?
If your item is in stock, Jane packs and posts it straight away. Some pieces are made to order, which can take up to 5 to 7 working days, and Jane will keep you updated by email. UK orders go by Royal Mail and are usually with you within a few working days of dispatch.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide via FedEx and DHL, and all duties and taxes are paid upfront at checkout. There's nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
Returns
What's your returns policy?
You can return an unused item in its original condition within 30 days for a refund or exchange. Just email us first so we know to expect it. Return postage is paid by the customer, and refunds are processed within 5 to 10 working days of your return arriving safely.
What if my order is faulty or damaged?
Every piece is checked by hand before it leaves the studio, but if anything arrives damaged or faulty, get in touch as soon as you can with a photo or two and we'll put it right, including postage.
Can I return a bespoke or requested tartan?
Because bespoke pieces are made specially for you, they fall outside our standard 30-day returns. In practice Jane is always reasonable, though. If it's genuinely not right, get in touch and, within reason, she'll usually be able to take it back. Anything faulty is always put right.
Products & materials
What are your cushions made from?
Cushions, Scottie Dogs and keyrings are handmade by Jane from authentic 100% pure new wool tartan. Scarves and throws are woven from 100% lambswool in the Scottish Borders and finished by Jane.
Are the pieces really handmade?
Yes. Jane makes each cushion, Scottie Dog and keyring by hand in her studio in West Linton, cutting and sewing every piece herself.
Can I buy a cushion cover without the pad?
You can. Every cushion is available as a cover only, or with a plump duck feather pad. See our Size Guide for the options.
How do I look after my tartan?
Wool is naturally hard-wearing and stain resistant. Full washing and storage advice is on our Care Guide.
Bespoke & tartan requests
Can you make my clan tartan?
Very possibly. Tell us the tartan or clan name and the piece you'd like on our Request Your Tartan page, and we'll check availability and come back to you with the price and a timescale before anything is made.

Where can I buy in person?
A number of independent shops stock our tartan pieces. See Find a Stockist for the current list.
Do you sell wholesale?
Yes, we work with independent retailers. Get in touch through our Trade Enquiries page and we'll tell you more.
